General Information
My Falcon cooker has FSD’s, what does this mean?

From the beginning of January 2010 all Falcon dual fuel cookers are fitted with Flame Safety Devices (FSD’s) as standard.

Which means that if the flame is accidentally extinguished, the FSD automatically cuts off the gas within 15 seconds.

What size of ducting do I need to use?

When ducting to the outside, connect the hood to the chimney using either a flexible or rigid kit measuring 125mm or 150mm – this will depend on the length of ducting you require. If you require up to 1m, a flexible kit is recommended. If it is longer than 1m and upto 3m, a rigid kit is required. The ducting kit must be positioned using sufficient pipe clamps (the ducting kit is not supplied). You must also remove any activated charcoal filters as they are not required. If you’d like to get a ducting kit, please visit our Spare Parts shop or fill out the ‘Other Enquiries’ form to contact our Spare Parts team.

Do you offer a repair service?

If you are experiencing problems with your Falcon appliance and please complete the ‘Product Faults/Issues’ form below and our team will be in touch.

If you’d like to make a service request and your appliance is within warranty, please complete the ‘Other Enquiries’ form below and choose the ‘Warranty’ option, our team will be in touch.

What size baking trays can I fit into the right-hand fan ovens of the 90cm, 100cm, 110cm ranges?

The optimum sizes are:

  • 90cm – 285mm (11″) x 210mm (8″).

  • 100cm – 310mm (12″) x 240mm (9.5″).

  • 110cm – 340mm (13.5″) x 340mm (13.5″).

The left-hand fan ovens on range cookers use a tray up to 340mm (13.5″). For the best results, we recommend that you do not use larger baking trays in Falcon cookers. If you’d like to get a baking tray, please visit our Spare Parts shop or fill out the ‘Other Enquiries’ form to contact our Spare Parts team.

Can I convert to an LPG cooker?

YES. LPG Versions are converted by the installer to LPG with the supplied conversion kit.

What gas connection will I need to install my cooker?

What gas connection will I need to install my cooker? Please consult a licensed gas fitter or installer to confirm the correct gas connection requirements for your specific model and installation environment. For rangehood installation, connect the hood to the mains power supply via a two-pole (double pole) switch with a minimum 3mm contact gap. The rangehood is supplied with a cable and fitted with a standard 10A plug.

What are the benefits of induction cooking?

Induction is by far the most energy-efficient cooking method available by delivering over 80% of the energy it uses to the pan, this compares to 48% with Gas. It is also extremely precise, offering even better controllability than gas with additional safety features not available in other cooking types.

Can you explain how induction works?

The electricity supply generates a magnetic field. By placing a pan onto the induction zone you complete the circuit, the pan becomes hot and in turn heats the contents of the pan. Induction pans need to be ferrous based; a magnet should stick to the base. Stainless steel or cast iron is ideal. Induction cooking is 90% efficient, fast, powerful, controllable, and safe. Easy to clean; the glass hob stays cool, preventing spillages from burning on. Important information for pacemaker and implanted insulin pump users: The functions of this hob comply with the applicable European standards on electromagnetic interference. If you are fitted with a pacemaker or implanted insulin pump, you must make sure your implants are not affected by the induction hob. Please consult your doctor for medical advice. The frequency range of the induction hob is 20-60kHz.

What clearances are required between a cooker top and a rangehood?

When installing a rangehood, please ensure the following clearances are met:

  • Minimum clearance:

At least 650mm from highest point of burner to underside of hood

  • Maximum recommended height:

750mm above the cooktop, as higher installation may affect performance

  • Installation guidance:

    • Always follow the rangehood manufacturer’s instructions (always look at manufacturers info for both units then take the greatest clearance).

    • Ensure any splashback and flue trim are installed correctly and accounted for.

    • Please refer to the User and Installation Manuals for model-specific requirements.

What clearance is required for a Falcon range cooker?

Assuming the cooker is going into a kitchen space with surrounding cabinetry then a gap of 1110mm is needed for the Falcon 110cm models and 918mm for the Falcon 90cm models, to allow access to remove the cooker for servicing and for the doors to open fully. If fitting the cooker near to a corner of the kitchen then 130mm is needed either side to allow the doors to open fully.

What does a multifunction oven do?

The multifunction oven offers up to eight functions for fully flexible cooking. From crisping up the base of your pizza to baking your favorite pasta dish. This feature offers a variety of functions all in one oven.

What does a multifunction oven do? Functions include:

  • Rapid response (only available on a selection of models) – unique to Rangemaster, this feature heats the oven 30% quicker than a regular fanned function and allows cooking to start immediately.

  • Fan oven – a fan oven draws air from the interior of the oven, heats it up and forces it back into the cavity again. The heat within a fan oven is evenly distributed for multi-level cooking.

  • Fanned grilling – enables the door to be closed whilst grilling, which grills food more evenly, while preventing cooking smells from permeating the room.

  • Base heat – using the lower element only, this cooking method is best used for finishing off your dishes, such as crisping up the base of a pizza or ensuring the base of a pastry flan is fully cooked.

  • Fan assisted oven – utilising the conventional oven elements alongside the fan, this produces zoned cooking with the hottest zone being featured at the top of the oven.

  • Conventional oven – this traditional cooking method uses heat sourced from both the top and base of the oven, which results in a natural convection process that centres the heat in the top of the oven. For baking cakes etc, cook in the centre of the oven and slightly reduce the temperature.

  • Browning element – to use at the end of cooking for the finishing and browning of cheese topped dishes that are already hot.

  • Defrost – an incredibly safe way to speed up the defrosting process, as it uses the fan to circulate unheated air, so won’t accidentally cook the food like a microwave can. Remember not to defrost meat or poultry in this way.

  • Back of the cooker (on the back of the top left hand side)
  • Frame of the main left-hand oven at the base near the plinth

For earlier specification 110cm models, remove the storage drawer and the silver data badge will be located on the front right upright of the cooker framework.

Where can I find the serial number for my rangehood?

The serial number is located inside the rangehood which is next to the motor on a white sticker (a ten-digit number – see below). It is also on the User and Installation Manuals.

Troubleshooting
There is oil dripping down from the rangehood unit.

Oil dripping is usually caused by the filters not being fitted or maintained correctly. Please check the following:

Clean the filters: Remove and clean them as per the user manual.

Check filter position: If the filters have been turned too far during installation, they may not lock into place properly.

If the issue continues, please complete the ‘Product Faults/Issues’ form below and our team will be in touch.

Why is my induction hob noisy?

When using an induction hob, some noise may be heard from the cookware during operation. This is normal and can be more noticeable when cooking on high power settings or when multiple pans are used at the same time.

Why is my oven getting hotter as it gets older?

If adjusting the temperature using the oven control knob has not resolved the issue, or only works temporarily, the thermostat may need replacing. Please fill out the ‘Other Enquiries’ form below to book a service agent.

Why does the fascia (front panel) become hot?

If the fascia (front panel) becomes excessively hot during use, the cooling fan may not be operating correctly.

Please complete the ‘Product Faults/Issues’ form below and our team will be in touch.

If the issue persists, please complete the ‘Product Faults/Issues’ form below and our team will be in touch.

Why is there smoke or a smell when using my oven for the first time?

It’s normal to experience some smoke or odour during the first use of your appliance. This occurs as the internal elements are heating up and “burning in.” Please refer to the User and Installation Manuals for guidance on initial use.

Why is my cooktop making buzzing or squealing noises?

It’s normal for some cooktops to make buzzing or squealing sounds during use. This is usually caused by the type or construction of the cookware being used. If the noise is unusually loud or persists, please complete the ‘Product Faults/Issues’ form below and our team will be in touch.

Cooktop doesn’t recognise pans.

One of the burners will not stay alight or all the burners are not lighting. What could be the cause?

If all the burners are not lighting, please check how long the appliance has been installed for as this could be a gas issue/installation fault, and they need to have their plumber re-attend. If the appliance has one burner not lighting, please complete the ‘Product Faults/Issues’ form below and our team will be in touch.

My door is locked after using the Pyro function

Put the oven back on Pyro and flick over to a conventional cooker setting (i.e. Fan Forced) and check the door. If this fails, then click back from a conventional setting to Pyro and see if that does resolves. Failing that, turn the oven off at the mains for 5-10 mins and then set the clock and try then. If the problem continues, please complete the ‘Product Fault/Issue’ form below and our team will be in touch.

The oven door is not closing / the cover for the door is coming away from the internal door.

If your oven door is not closing correctly or the outer cover is coming away, this may be due to:

  • Misaligned door hinges
  • Loose or missing screws causing the outer door panel to separate

Please complete the ‘Product Faults/Issues’ form below and our team will be in touch.

The lights/indicator lights do not work
  • If the oven lights are not working, the light may have failed and can usually be replaced by the customer. If you would like to purchase a replacement, please visit our Spare Parts portal or fill out the ‘Other Enquiries’ form to contact our Spare Parts team.

If everything else is working except the left-hand side oven, the clock may not be set correctly.

  • Thermostat setting:

Ensure the thermostat is turned to the required temperature setting.

Please refer to your User and Installation Manuals for instructions on how to reset the clock for your model.

Why is it the fan on the oven continues even though I have turned it off?

Yes, the cooling fan will continue to run until the oven cools down. You will be able to feel the hot air blowing out of the venting system which is usually above the door but below the control panel.

What can I do if i cannot duct my rangehood to an outside wall?

If it is not possible to duct to an outside wall, you can re-circulate the air using carbon filters that fit on to the side of the motor. Your first set of carbon filters will be included inside the rangehood packaging. If you’d like to purchase additional carbon filters, please visit our Spare Parts shop or fill out the ‘Other Enquiries’ form to contact our Spare Parts team.

I have just received my cooker and there is debris in the bottom of the oven cavity.

A small amount of debris inside the oven cavity is normal due to the manufacturing and enamel firing process. This can usually be wiped away easily with a damp cloth before first use.

Why are my hotplate burners not lighting up on my dual fuel/all gas cooker?
  • Make sure that the burner parts have been replaced correctly after wiping or removing for cleaning.
  • Check that there is not a problem with your gas supply. You can do this by making sure that other gas appliances you may have are working.
  • Do the burners spark when you push the button? If not, verify that the power is on by checking that the clock is illuminated.

  5. Do open doors and windows to get rid of the gas.
  6. Do keep people away from the area affected.

Call your gas supplier or 000.

Why is steam coming out of the oven?

When cooking food with high water content (e.g. oven fries) there may be some steam visible at the rear grille; this is perfectly normal.

Take care when opening the oven door, as there may be a momentary puff of steam when the oven door is opened. Stand well back and allow any steam to disperse.

Care and Maintenance
What are the cleaning recommendations for a Falcon cooker?

For the Falcon range, we do recommend that the customer does try to clean anything off with warm soapy water before going anywhere near these products. Customers need to be aware that over time, general maintenance is expected. You must never use products that can cause the enamel to peel or tarnish handles and control knobs. Please remember to read and follow the instructions very carefully on all cleaning products. We recommend cleaning the cooker after every use to maintain. However, if the customer is struggling with cleaning the appliance we recommend the following products for specific parts of the cooker:

Autosol: This can be purchased from your local Bunnings or Repco stores. We recommend using this on any aluminium parts of the cooker i.e. burner skirts. Please use a microfibre cloth or something non-abrasive when cleaning.

Gumption: This can be purchased from your local Coles or Woolworths. We recommend this product for any enamel surfaces inside and outside the cooker. Only small amounts are needed at a time but it will help it to shine back up and not look as dull.

How do I remove the filters for cleaning?

Filter removal can vary depending on your model:

  • Canopy rangehoods: Filters may be tight and require a firm twist to remove. You may use pliers for additional grip if needed.
  • Undermount rangehoods: Filters are released via a simple latch mechanism

Please refer to your user manual for model-specific instructions. If you need further assistance, please fill out the ‘Other Enquiries’ form and our team will be in touch.

Between the door glasses is very dirty. Can I pull the door apart to clean it?

Only if the instruction manual explains how to do this. We do not recommend it and would prefer to have a service agent complete this work. To make a service request, please fill out the ‘Other Enquiries’ form and choose ‘Service Request’ option.

How do I change the light bulb?

To change the lights bulbs for a standard canopy rangehood, follow the below steps:

  • Remove the metal grease filters.
  • Unscrew the bulbs and replace them with new ones that have the same characteristics.
  • Replace the metal grease filters.

For other types of rangehoods, refer to your User and Installation Manuals for instructions on how to change the light bulbs.

How often do I need to change my charcoal filters?

The filters are not washable and cannot be re-used and must be replaced approximately every four months of operation, or more frequently for particularly heavy usage. To change the filters, please follow these steps:

  • Remove the metal grease filters.
  • Remove the saturated activated carbon filter by releasing the fixing hooks.
  • Fit the new filter by hooking it into its seating.
  • Refit the metal grease filters.
How do I clean my metal grease filters?

The filters must be cleaned every two months of operation, or more frequently for particularly heavy usage, they can be washed in a dishwasher. To wash the filters, please follow these steps:

  • Remove the filters one at a time by pushing them towards the back of the hood and – pulling them down at the same time.
  • Wash the filters, taking care not to bend them.
  • Allow them to dry before refitting.
  • When refitting the filters, make sure that the handle is visible on the outside.
What products do you recommend for cleaning your cookers?

For inside the oven cavity you must make sure that the cleaning product is safe to use on vitreous enamel.

You must never use products that can cause the enamel to peel or tarnish handles and control knobs. Please remember to read and follow the instructions very carefully on all cleaning products. We recommend that any strong or caustic cleaner be first tested on an inconspicuous part of the cooker. For coloured panels we do not recommend anything other than hot soapy water and a soft cloth.
